Explore Burlingame

Your Upscale Retreat on The San Francisco Peninsula

From glorious tree-lined streets to boutique shopping, fun local parks, water sports and close proximity to San Francisco, Burlingame is equal parts sophistication, outdoor fun and accessibility.

About Burlingame

Burlingame is a gem by the bay.

Also known as the “City of Trees,” Burlingame is home to some of the largest hotels in San Mateo County (most of them have views of the water too). And if the town’s refined charm — complete with quaint local shops, designer boutiques, fine art galleries, bakeries, delis, and many excellent restaurants — isn’t enough, Burlingame's bayside features a section of the Bayside Trail, which offers miles of water-view trails perfect for walking, running or biking.

And, with such close proximity to both San Francisco International Airport (SFO) and San Francisco (about a 10-minute and 20-minute drive depending on traffic, respectively), Burlingame is perfect for a day trip or a quick coastal escape.

Looking for upscale retail shopping, boutique stores, restaurants and cafes? One trip down Burlingame Avenue and you’ll find it all and plenty more. You’ll also find historic architecture, museums and other cultural hot spots throughout town.

On the other hand, if you want a more outdoorsy stay — such as bayfront trails, water sports and unmatched natural views — that’s all here too. Burlingame’s tree-lined streets aren’t the only reason the city is known as the “City of Trees” — there are many gorgeous tree-filled parks here, such as Washington Park in downtown Burlingame (the oldest park in town) or Bayfront Park.

Between the quaint downtown vibes and the many ways to enjoy the outdoors, Burlingame is a best-of-both-worlds place with tons of character, nature and something for everyone. Plus, it’s only 10 minutes from SFO and just a little bit longer to San Francisco, so it’s easy to get to for travelers or day-trippers.
