As Fresh As It Gets

SAN MATEO COUNTY'S FARM-TO-TABLE EXPERIENCE

Look for the Logo!

Keep an eye out for the “As Fresh as it Gets” logo when you are visiting local Farmers' Markets, Restaurants, Hotels, and Farm Stands. That logo indicates that you're about to enjoy San Mateo County grown produce and products for a true farm-to-table experience.

Businesses that go out of their way to use San Mateo County products are each awarded the “As Fresh As It Gets” plaque and window decal that is displayed to let you know they serve truly local, San Mateo County grown products!

What Does "As Fresh As it Gets" Mean?

When you think of The San Francisco Peninsula and Silicon Valley, you may not think of farming, agriculture, and fishing – but our region has over 50 working farms and bay harbors with fishing boats galore! When you drive over Highway 92 heading into Half Moon Bay you will start to see the sides of the road come alive with fields of orange pumpkins, lush green Brussels sprouts, and proud artichoke plants. For locals, there is nothing better than knowing “local produce” doesn’t just come from California, but it comes from our very own backyard and is San Mateo County grown! We call this “As Fresh as it Gets.”

The “As Fresh as it Gets” (AFAIG) Program connects residents and visitors to San Mateo County’s farmers, and fishermen, and the restaurants and hotels that serve our outstanding fresh and local products.

When you visit San Mateo County, it is truly a culinary experience like no other. Driving along our highways, you see and smell the fresh products and produce as they are growing, you may stop at a roadside farm stand or pick your own strawberries right from the field – then, when you visit your favorite restaurant, you may even see the farmers name on the menu. This is a true Farm-to-Table experience.
