San Mateo Daily Journal – 2026 Community Impact Award
For over 25 years, The San Mateo Daily Journal has operated as an independently owned daily newspaper serving San Mateo County and the broader San Francisco Peninsula. Beyond print and digital coverage, the Journal has also been partnering with local cities and organizations that host community events, using its media platform to bring people together and strengthen the communities it covers.

Genentech – 2026 Community Impact Award
Founded in 1976, Genentech is widely recognized as the pioneer that first brought biotechnology research to the commercial market. Today, as a member of the Roche Group, Genentech remains at the cutting edge—pursuing breakthrough research, developing life-changing medicines, and leveraging data and technology to tackle the world’s most serious diseases. Their work continues to cement our Peninsula’s status as the global hub for biotech innovation.

Mitch Postel - Margi Grant “Heart of Hospitality” Lifetime Achievement Award
This award is presented annually to an individual whose presence and impact on the Peninsula are truly immeasurable. Named in honor of Margi Grant, who retired from the Bureau in 2007 after more than 26 years of service, the award recognizes someone who has gone far beyond the ordinary to make visitors’ experiences exceptional. This year, our longest-serving board member, and President of the San Mateo County Historical Association, was the recipient of the 17th Margi Grant Heart of Hospitality Lifetime Achievement Award. Congratulations Mitch!
